First and foremost, I am human. I am moving through this human existence experiencing celebrations and setbacks. Sound familiar?

I am honored to use my professional experience, education and natural ability to empathize to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself.

I believe in a connection between the mind, the body and the spirit. I believe in the power of therapy and I am passionate about my work.

My Experience:

Over the 20 year span of my career I have worked in many different settings including hospitals, outpatient drug treatment facilities, youth transitional centers and foster care programs. I have worked with LGBTQ teens, adults dealing with substance abuse, survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, and males accused of violent crimes.

My Approach:

My approach is eclectic. I believe that people hold feelings, emotions and experiences in their bodies. I use a variety of techniques to help shake these things free. Talk therapy is a large part of my work, but I also integrate creative therapy techniques such as movement, music, art and narrative therapy. Yes, I sometimes ask adults to color. Yes, I do ask you to get off of the sofa and get moving. I also include nutrition, fitness, sexual health, spirituality and religion in the discussion.

My Training:

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. I earned a master's degree in Counseling Psychology as well as a master's degree in Organizational Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Your Decision:

Selecting a therapist is a very personal decision that should be taken seriously. While I encourage you to do some research I also encourage you to find a balance between researching and delaying. Whether you choose to do this delicate and important work with me or another therapist that seems to be a good fit for you the most important thing is to pick up the phone and make that first appointment.
